City of Lavonia Launches New Website and App

The City of Lavonia has a new updated website and a new app.

City Mayor Courtney Umbehant announced the launch of the new site at last week’s City Council meeting.

The website and app were developed and are maintained by Lavonia Main Street Manager Ashley Rose Dodd and Barbara Busby, Downtown Development Director.

Dodd tells WLHR News the new website and app were developed via a website committee made up of Dodd, Busby, Mayor Umbehant, and City Manager Charles Cawthon to determine key features, functionalities, and improvements.

Dodd pointed out that the City’s website had not been updated in more than five years.

“When updating our website, we considered making changes to the content, design, and functionality to enhance user experience and drive traffic to our site. We made necessary upgrades to improve the overall aesthetics and usability,” Dodd explained. “Lastly, we upgraded the functionality of our website by adding new features such as an events calendar, news feed, and a Contact Us tool that can enhance user engagement and interaction. This also includes our social media feeds being added.”

The new website she said can now also be viewed in Spanish.

And for the first time in Lavonia’s history, the public can access City information via a new app.

“Having an app enhances communication between the city officials and the community by providing a platform for sharing important updates, news, and events by having that information right in their pocket,” she said.

Residents can stay informed about local services, programs, and initiatives through the app. It also offers features like online bill pay and event calendars.

“Features like online bill payment, event calendars, and access to city resources can make life more convenient for residents, fostering a stronger connection between the city and its people,” Dodd said. “Overall, having an app for the City of Lavonia can streamline communication, enhance community engagement, and improve the overall quality of life for its residents, community members, and visitors.”

You can view the new website at lavoniaga.gov and you can download the app on Android’s Google Play or iPhone’s App Store.
