Career Expo in Hartwell Slated for April 29

Those looking for work in Hart and surrounding counties may want to mark their calendars for the upcoming Career Expo in Hartwell.

The job fair will be held April 29th from 10a to 1p at the Cateechee Golf Club on SR77 South in Hartwell.

According to Toccoa Career Center manager Greg Pitts, the career expo is open to anyone who is looking for work.

“Right now we have 20 employers committed to be there,” Pitts said Tuesday. “The job fair is open to anyone in Northeast Georgia or the western part of South Carolina who is looking for work. We feel like it’s a great opportunity for people to come out and meet employers who are actually hiring or may be hiring. “

Sponsored by the Georgia Department of Labor’s Toccoa Career Center and the Hart County Industrial Building Authority, Pitts said a wide variety of businesses will have representatives on hand to conduct interviews and take applications.

“These employers all have job openings. Of course, we don’t know how soon they may be hiring, but some will be doing onsite interviews. So, we encourage people to bring their resumes and come dressed for success, as we like to call it. Come prepared to be interviewed.”

Among those expected to participate in the event are Bob’s Small Town Grille, Burger King, Davis Transfer, Elite Staffing, Elwood Staffing, Employment Staffing, Fenner Dunlop, Gwinnett County Police Department, HTI Employment Solutions, Mollertech South, Oconee Area Home Care Services, Pharma Tech Industries,  and Ty Cobb Health Care System.

Pitts said some employers will be hiring, while others will discuss possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers.

Other organizations will provide educational and other resources.
