Bond Hearing Scheduled for Keaton Maxwell Next Week

 

A bond hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 in Franklin County Superior Court for a Stephens County man on charges of felony aggravated battery and giving false statements to Police.

17-year-old Keaton Scott Maxwell was arrested last month on charges stemming from an alleged assault on a man at a Lavonia apartment complex.

According to Capt Joe Smith with the Lavonia Police Dept., it happened at the Ridgewood Hill Apartment Complex.

Capt. Smith said the victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Athens Regional Medical Center where he underwent surgery for a brain injury. His current condition is unknown.

Maxwell fled the scene, and a lookout was logged with area law enforcement.

Smith said Maxwell was arrested several days later at the Haywood Apartments in Greenville.

Maxwell is from Stephens County but at the time of the incident, he had been living in Clayton, GA according to Smith.

Capt. Smith said the investigation as to what led to the fight is still ongoing.
