Banks Crossing Wreck Sends Two to Hospital Friday

A wreck Friday in the Banks Crossing area left two people injured.

According to the Banks County Sheriff’s office, it happened Friday morning at the intersection of GA15 and Banks Crossing Drive.

Authorities say an SUV rear-ended a box truck that was stopped at the intersection.  The entire front end of the SUV went under the rear of the box truck and was demolished.

Banks County Fire and EMS crews had to use the jaws of life to remove the driver and passenger. Both were injured.

One of the injured was airlifted and another was taken by ambulance to Athens Regional Medical Center.  The Gainesville Post of the Georgia State Patrol continues to investigate.  So far, the names of the victims have not been released.
