Banks County Sheriff’s Office Tries to Reduce Repeat Offenders

The Banks County Sheriff’s Office has instituted a new initiative designed to help inmates at the Banks County Jail get their high school diplomas.
According to Banks County Sheriff’s spokesperson Sgt Carrissa McFaddin, the goal of the GED program at the Banks Jail is to assist the community by reducing the repeat offender rate in Banks County.
That she tells WLHR News should reduce costs associated with running the jail.

This program will be open to non-violent offenders who did not achieve a High School diploma and is being coordinated through Lanier Technical College in Gainesville.
McFaddin said the program is free to Banks County citizens who are incarcerated at the jail.
