Arts Center of Hartwell Renovations Expected to be Complete by Late August

The Arts Center of Hartwell, Northeast Georgia’s Regional Community Art Center, announces that it has secured funding to begin necessary repairs to reopen the gallery and building.

Renovations to the gallery began last month.

Construction was necessary to replace the historic building’s roof truss system and roof.

Expected completion for the Arts Center building construction is late August 2024 and they hope to re-open in early September.

The Arts Center will also host a new program to connect artists across the Northeast Georgia region.

The Arts Center of Hartwell doors were temporarily closed in 2023.

In 2023 alone, the community raised $50,000 towards the re-opening of the building.

The Arts Center was also awarded a reimbursement grant of another $50,000 from Georgia Council for the Arts.

Once re-opened they will continue to support a wide range of arts, including but not limited to painting, drawing, writing, chorus, music, photography, pottery, graphic arts, flower arranging, plant pressing, woodworking, metalworks, fiber, as well as classes, performances and workshops.

Programming and class details will be released at a later date.

The Arts Center of Hartwell supports all facets of the arts for the Northeast Georgia community.

From contracting exhibits, performances, and workshops, our goal is to
promote art education, enjoyment, and enrichment in Hart County, Georgia, and the surrounding areas.

The Arts Center of Hartwell is a non-profit, 501(c)3, run by the Hart Regional Arts Council and is supported in part by Georgia Council for the Arts through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly.

Once repairs and renovations are completed, to celebrate, the Arts Center will host a formal black-tie art auction later this fall, date and time to be determined.
