Educators Invited to Apply for TangerKids Grant
Tanger Outlets in Commerce is taking applications for its 2024 TangerKids Grants Program.
Applications are being accepted through October 18.
Teachers and leaders in education across Northeast Georgia are invited to request funding to help enhance educational programs and better serve students.
Applications can cover anything – from modernizing literature and libraries to purchasing adaptive and more inclusive equipment.
The grants through the TangerKids Grant Program allow students and teachers access to the resources needed to succeed in today’s classroom.
In 2023, Tanger awarded $168,000 in grants to fund over 140 programs.
The projects funded included equipment upgrades, inclusion initiatives, interactive learning spaces, hygiene and clothing closets for students, literacy efforts, and STEM programs.
Steve Yalof, Tanger President and CEO said the TangerKids Grant Program was created to satisfy the specific funding needs of community schools.
He noted that the past several years have created a more challenging environment for many schools, highlighting a greater need for resources and support – and many institutions have been forced to reimagine their programs, their classrooms, and the ways they interact with students.
Since 1996, Tanger has made over $3.4 million in total contributions through school-focused initiatives, enabling more youth to achieve their aspirations and helping community partners strengthen their resources.
Tanger also contributed 70% of total grants to support underserved schools in 2024, according to a release from the company.
Member’s Choice voting to select grant winners will be open to Tanger Commerce shoppers from Dec. 2-13.
All winning grant recipients will be announced in January 2025 and celebrated at the center’s annual TangerKids Day.
The grant is open to all faculty members at both public and private pre-K -12 schools.
