Northeast Georgia Ag Expo Returns Aug. 17

The Northeast Georgia Ag Expo returns this year to the Hart County Charter System Agriscience Center from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, August 17.

There will be indoor and outdoor ag exhibits, a speaker panel, free activities for kids, food, raffle prizes, an Antique Tractor Show, and a pedal tractor race for children.

“We’re really excited to host another Ag Expo in Hart County so the general public and the youth can get a glimpse into what it’s like to be an ag professional,” Northeast Georgia Ag Expo committee member Brian Fleming said. “Our goal is to educate our community on one of the biggest economic sectors of our region and state. We hope kids will develop an understanding and appreciation of where their food comes from, growing respect for farmers and the agriculture industry.”

A variety of agricultural exhibits and demonstrations will be on display for the public at the fourth annual Northeast Georgia Ag Expo.

Folks will get to see commercial farm vehicles and equipment up close. Professors from the University of Georgia and Athens Tech will also be at the Ag Expo covering several different topics including Forestry and Conservation; a calving simulator and a rainfall simulator are also planned for the event.

Raffle prizes will also be available to attendees this year.

New this year is the pedal tractor race for children aged 5-10. Participants will be divided into three age groups. Registration is available online at the Hart County Chamber of Commerce’s website at www.hart-chamber.org.

A panel discussion with local agricultural experts will also highlight the Ag Expo. Attendees can ask questions to the panel and have an open discussion about local agriculture.

The Antique Tractor Show has been a popular attraction during the first three Northeast Georgia Ag Expos in 2021, 2022, and 2023 drawing in a crowd of regional folks who dusted off their antique tractors for display. Multiple awards were given out to participants last year, and awards are planned for this year’s event as well. Tractors are typically considered antique once they are 25 years old or older.

There is still time to register for the Antique Tractor Show and pedal tractor race. To register, please visit the Hart County Chamber of Commerce’s website at www.hart-chamber.org. Paper registrations can also be picked up at the Hart County Chamber of Commerce Office located at 10 South Carolina Street, Hartwell. Registration on the day of the expo will be available, but Antique Tractor Show participants need to arrive by 8 a.m. to unload their tractor.

Admission is free to the Northeast Georgia Ag Expo and parking will be at the Hart County Agriscience Center located at 1951 Bowman Highway.

The 2024 Northeast Georgia Ag Expo is sponsored by Hart County Farm Bureau, AgGeorgia Farm Credit, Hart County Charter System, Hart County Chamber of Commerce, and is facilitated by the University of Georgia’s Archway Partnership.
