Autopsy Planned for Victim of Saturday’s Accident at Hartwell Marina

An autopsy is planned for the Banks County man who lost his life Saturday on Lake Hartwell.

Hart County Sheriff Chief Investigator Chris Carroll said Monday the body was turned over to Hart County Coroner Mike Adams and an autopsy is planned to determine the exact cause of death.

According to Carroll and Mark McKinnon with the Georgia DNR, at about 8p a call came to 911 regarding a possible drowning at the Hartwell Marina.

The Hart County Sheriff’s Office, Ga DNR, Hart County Emergency Management, Hart County Ems, and Hart County Fire Dept. responded to the scene.

Carroll told WLHR News witnesses told authorities the boat had pulled up to the dock and a man attempted to step off the boat and onto the dock but missed and fell into the water.

He did not resurface. Carroll said the man is identified as Randy Lamar Beasley, age 47 of Commerce.

A rescue team used a remotely operated vessel to search for the man underwater and he was located under a boat slip in about 16 ft of water.
