CORE Scheduling Second Health Screening in Bowersville This Month

Coming on the heels of a successful health screening event at the Lavonia Carnegie Library, the non-profit group, CORE which stands for Community Organized Relief Effort of Georgia will be holding another health screening event in our area on Wednesday, August 14 from 1 – 6 at the Bowersville Community Center.

According to CORE coordinator Amy Borton, they will be offering a number of different health screenings and other information.

They will also be offering the latest COVID-19 vaccine free of charge.

Borton said CORE in Georgia focusing their efforts on helping people in rural counties they believe are being underserved.

Borton added that in addition to health services, they’ll have other giveaways such as Souvenirs, Wearables, Gifts, kids’ toys, and stickers.

Founded in 2010 by actor Sean Penn, CORE initially started to help people in Haiti devastated by an earthquake, CORE has evolved over the past 15 years to become a global humanitarian organization that helps communities in crisis.

That includes responding to natural disasters, conflict, food insecurity, disease outbreaks, climate change, and public health emergencies.

Again, CORE will be at the Bowersville Community Center on Wednesday, August 14 from 1p to 6p offering free health screenings and other health-related services.
