Lavonia Police are encouraging citizens to make sure their identity is protected after an undocumented immigrant was found to be using a stolen identity and working at a business in Lavonia.

Lavonia Chief Investigator Lt. Wayne Mitchum said that in June the Lavonia Police Department received a report of a female suspect using someone else’s identity for employment.

“Investigator Brian Neal was assigned to the case and spoke with the victim, who was from another state and confirmed her identity,” he said. “The victim discovered that the suspect was working at AutoZone in Lavonia, GA. During the investigation, Officer Neal verified the suspect had used the victim’s social security number to gain employment and that she had been living in Anderson County South Carolina.”

Mitchum added that Officer Neal then interviewed the suspect, who admitted to using someone else’s identity for employment purposes.

“She claimed that she was told the last person to use the social security number had returned to El Salvador, which is why she began using it. When Investigator Neal asked the suspect for her true identity, she provided false information once again. She was later identified as Yeimy Daneyda Selva Henriquez and was arrested,” he explained.

Henriquez is wanted by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE). However, Mitchem said ICE informed the jail they would not be picking Henriquez up and she is currently in the Franklin County Detention Center.

Mitchum told WLHR News ICE did not give jail personnel a reason for not coming to get Henriquez.

Henriquez is charged with felony Identity fraud, felony false statements and writings, and giving a false name to law enforcement.

Mitchum said everyone should monitor their credit reports and tax returns regularly. And
