In Toccoa-Stephens County, the start of the 2024-25 school year is now less than a month away, and the date for the annual Back to School Prayer Motorcade is set to take place on Saturday, July 27.

The first Back to School Prayer Motorcade was started some 20 years ago by a middle school principal and has continued throughout the years as a community event.

“The parents are welcome to come and join us, the students are welcome and encouraged to come and pray. We do encourage the community to come out, be a part of what’s going on,” said Bradley Collins, Assistant Director of Transportation at Stephens County Schools. “We think it’s very vital to cover our schools in prayer before they start and even during the school year continue to. But this is a way to get our community together to come out and rally around our students and our teachers and staff. We’d love to have them all.”

Collins has been assisting with event organization for the past six years. He said parents and students are welcome to join the motorcade and pray.

The Back to School Prayer Motorcade will begin at 8a at Stephens County Board of Education offices, then travel to each school and the Head Start program, ending at the Mountain Education School in Eastanollee.

Participants will stop at each school for about 15 minutes of prayer.
