Hartwell Man Arrested in Connection with Royston Domestic Incident

A Hartwell man wanted in Franklin County on Aggravated Assault charges, is now behind bars.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Carlos Tyrone Wilson was wanted for aggravated assault in connection with an incident on June 16 in Royston.

According to the Royston Police, Wilson was involved in a domestic incident involving a weapon at a convenience store on Franklin Springs St. on June 16.

A BOLO was put out for Wilson who was seen driving away in a brown 1986 Oldsmobile Cutlass.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas tells WLHR News that on Tuesday, June 2, Law Enforcement Officers with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Royston Police Department, the United States Marshal’s Office, and the Georgia State Patrol executed a search warrant at a residence in Carnesville.

Law Enforcement had been searching for Wilson and his missing vehicle throughout Northeast Georgia since the incident in Royston last month.

Thomas said authorities were eventually able to confirm Wilson’s whereabouts through his associates.

On Tuesday, Officers secured a premises on Paul Vandiver Road in Carnesville and through communications, Wilson surrendered to law enforcement without further incident.

The Sheriff added that during the execution of the search warrant, evidence was located that is believed to be associated with the June 16, 2024 crimes in Royston.

Wilson is charged with 6 counts of Aggravated Assault, 2 counts of Cruelty To Children, 1 count of Discharge Of a Firearm Near a Public Highway, 1 count of Discharge Of Firearms On Property Of Another, and 1 count of Obstruction.

Royston Police Chief Donnie Boleman thanked the Franklin County Sheriffs Office, Sheriff Thomas, Us Marshals Fugitive Task Force, GSP patrol officers, GSP SWAT team, MCCD officers, and the GBI’s Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office for their help in finding and arresting Wilson.

Wilson remains in the Franklin County Detention Center.
