If you’re planning a July 4th road trip, expect to pay a little more for gas, according to AAA.

Georgia gas price average continues to climb at the pumps compared to a week ago.

Georgians are paying an average price of $3.31 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline (subject to change overnight).

The most expensive areas to buy gas in Georgia are in the metro markets – such as Savannah ($3.39), Atlanta ($3.34), and Gainesville ($3.29).

The least expensive gas prices in Georgia can be found in Rome ($3.22), Dalton ($3.20), and Catoosa-Dade-Walker counties ($3.15).

Monday’s state average is 5 cents more than a week ago, 6 cents less than a month ago, and 9 cents more than this time last year.

It costs drivers an average price of $49.65 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline.

Still, Georgians are now paying almost $1.00 less to fill up at the pump compared to a month ago.

Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman tells WLHR News, that the summer season has officially ignited, and just like the mercury rising in the thermometer, gas prices are increasing too.

Waiters attributes the rise at the pump to the increase in crude oil prices.

Over 2 million Georgians are anticipated to hit the road for the July 4th holiday.

She said increased demand may also influence an uptick in prices this week.
