Hartwell Celebrates Our Independence With Festival, Fireworks Saturday

The Hart County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the Hartwell Service League is inviting everyone to their Pre-4th Weekend festival and kids’ Patriotic Parade.

According to organizers, over 200 arts and craft vendors from across the area will be on hand Saturday in downtown Hartwell – a record for the Pre-4th festival, now in it’s 47-year.

Activities will run from 8:30a to 2:30p with the Patriotic Children’s Parade beginning at 10a.

All children who want to be in the parade need to gather at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church parking by 9:45a to line up.

The parade will leave First Methodist and travel down Howell, Carolina, and Franklin Streets before disbanding in the First Citizens Bank parking lot

Kids under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Participants are encouraged to bring their decorated patriotic bike, trike, wagon or float and walk in the parade which will be escorted by the Hartwell Police.

All parade participants will receive a small gift and will be given water and flags to wave as they walk.

This year’s parade theme is Celebrate the Hartwell Service League’s 50th Year. The Grand Marshal will be Hartwell Service League Founder Cheri Griggs.

Again, the 47th annual Pre-4th Festival and Patriotic Parade takes place Saturday from 8:30a to 2:30p in downtown Hartwell.

And the Hart County Chamber and Hart Telecom are once again sponsoring an evening of Pre-4th Fireworks Saturday night beginning when the sun goes down.

Fireworks are taking place at LongPoint Park of Old Highway 29 in Hartwell but there are a number of ways those on land and on boats can view the display in addition to the Longpoint Recreation Area.

They include Elrod Ferry Recreation Area, Powderbag Creek, Big Oaks & Dam Overlook, and the Lewis Drive boat ramp on the Georgia side and on the South Carolina side, Hartwell Dam Overlook, Singing Pines, and Crescent Group.

Gates at LongPoint open at 4p and parking is $5 at the gate.

Patriotic music for the fireworks will be provided by 92.1 Lake Hartwell radio so bring your radios and listen while enjoying the fireworks.
