Two Public Meetings Planned This Week on the Fr. Co. Comprehensive Plan

Franklin County citizens have another chance this week to get an overview of the Franklin County Comprehensive Plan.

As Franklin County and its five municipalities continue their work on the next Comprehensive Plan, more opportunities are scheduled for public input.

Comprehensive Plans are guides for coordinating development policies and capital improvements to help local governments ensure more efficient and effective paths to achieving their respective community vision.

These documents identify critical goals and the action items needed to achieve those goals, helping the community prioritize their resources through more informed decision-making.

They are also required if a community wishes to be eligible for all forms of State assistance.

The Georgia Mountains Regional Commission (GMRC) is assisting Franklin County and the municipalities of Carnesville, Canon, Franklin Springs, Lavonia, and Royston with the update of their joint Comprehensive Plan.

The process includes multiple opportunities for public input, with the next round of meetings happening this evening at Franklin Springs City Hall and again on Thursday at Lavonia City Hall.

Both meetings will take place from 6p to 7:30p.

GMRC Planning Director Adam Hazell tells WLHR News if you cannot make it to one of the upcoming meetings more events will be listed for the coming months.

The full County and municipal Comprehensive Plans must be submitted to the State by the end of October.
