Lavonia Hot Rod Festival Raises Over $8,000 for Local Charity

The Lavonia Downtown Development Authority and Main Street Program are touting the success of Saturday’s Northeast Georgia Hot Rod Festival.

Visitors to the festival Saturday in downtown Lavonia were able to view over 100 hot rods and rat rods while enjoying the beautiful summer weather.

There were reportedly 16 winners in various categories, such as Best Car and Best Exterior.

Greg Schmidt is the DC Manager at Autozone Distribution Center, the industry that along with the Magnaflow Group and the Lavonia Downtown Development Authority started the festival in 2021.

Schmidt said each year they select a charity to raise money for and the proceeds go to that charity.

He said this year it was the Step of Faith Outreach Program.

Through collective efforts and generous contributions, they raised an impressive $8,370 to support the Step of Faith Outreach program.

Schmidt said the achievement is a testament to the unity, compassion, and commitment of everyone involved.
