Fulbright Wins Stephens County Sheriff’s Race

In Stephens County, the unofficial results of Tuesday’s May Primary indicate the County will have a new Sheriff in town come January, 1, 2025.

Of the three candidates running, Dennis Bell, Rusty Fulbright, and Harold McCrosky, Fulbright received the majority of the votes. All were Republicans and no Democrat qualified to run for Sheriff.

The final count according to the Secretary of State’s office has Fulbright winning 63.63% of the vote with 2,780 votes to Bell’s 31.68% with 1,384 votes, and McCrosky’s 4.69% with 205 votes.

Fulbright will run unopposed in the November General Election.

In the race for the Stephens County Commission Post 3 seat, there will be a run-off for the Republican candidate who will face Democratic challenger Justin Richie in November who ran unopposed.

Of the three Republican candidates, no one got 50% +1 votes.

James Addison received 46.38% with 1,924 votes, Craig Oglesby received 29.63% or 1,229 votes and Mark Marstellar received 23.99% of the votes with 995 votes.

The run-off takes place June 18th.
