SC Sheriff’s Deputy Shot in the Line of Duty Coming Home from Atlanta Rehab Today

Corporal Lucas Watts, who was injured in an Officer Involved Shooting on November 16th, 2023, is scheduled to return home today from Atlanta where he has been undergoing medical and rehabilitation care.

Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw made the announcement Tuesday.

In a press release Crenshaw recalled that Watts was shot in the line of duty after pulling over a vehicle and was not expected to make it but said God deserves all praise and glory for Lucas’ recovery.

The Sheriff added that he knows Lucas and his family are excited that he will be coming home to the house that he and his wife, Haley, share with their son and thaned everyone for their continued prayers and thoughts for Lucas.

Watts is expected to be discharged from the rehabilitation facility sometime early this afternoon and should arrive home between 2 and 3p today.

Anyone who would like to welcome Deputy Watts home is asked to stand on the Ext 1 bridge over I85 in South Carolina to welcome him home.

Crenshaw said some his deputies, and likely other law enforcement agencies will be escorting Watts h home from Atlanta.

He said once they leave Atlanta, then he will have a more approximate time as to when the motorcade will be arriving back in South Carolina.

Once Deputy Watts is home the family is asking for their privacy to continue to be respected so they can focus all their energy on Watts’ continued rehabilitation.
