Manhunt Underway in Hart County for Couple Wanted By ATF

Multiple local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies have descended on Hart County late Tuesday afternoon in search of a fugitive couple wanted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

According to the Hart County Sheriff’s office, the ATF pursued the unidentified couple into Hart County.

Sheriff Mike Cleveland said  the couple ditched the white van they were driving in the area of Langford Road and SR51 and got out on foot and ran.

Law enforcement with the Hart County Sheriff’s office, ATF, Hartwell Police, the Georgia State Patrol, Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the U.S. Marshal’s office participated in the search.

At one point, it was believed the couple may have gotten into an older model red pick up, but that information has not been confirmed.

As of late Tuesday, the search was continuing.

The couple is described as white and of slender builds.  The female was last seen wearing a yellow midriff top and jeans.  The male was last seen wearing plaid shorts and a beige or light colored sweatshirt.

Authorities have not given out their names nor why they are wanted by the ATF.

Cleveland emphasized, however, the pair are armed and considered dangerous and should not be approached.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact the Hart County Sheriff’s office at 706-376-3114 or your local 911.  You do not have to give your name.
