Some changes for the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce.

This week the Chamber announced it is giving up its store-front office and going virtual.

Lavonia Chamber Director Genie Moore said in a social media release that the move isn’t about downsizing; it’s about maximizing the benefits and resources available to members.

Moore said that by reallocating resources, the Chamber will be able to invest more in programs, events, and initiatives that directly benefit members and the Lavonia business community as a whole.

The Chamber office on East Main St. Has largely been unused for some years. Moore has been the Executive Director since May of last year but lives in Jefferson.

Meantime, an existing boutique in Lavonia is moving into the space which is located next to the Flaunt hair salon.

Jean & Jane Boutique is moving from their current location on Grogan St. To the old Chamber offices.

The owners say they are excited about the move and eager to start the renovations.

They expect to make the move in mid-to-late March.
