GBI Asking for Help in 22-Year Old Toccoa Murder

Investigators are searching for new leads in the cold case murder of a Toccoa man found shot to death in his apartment.

It’s been over 22 years since Anthony Dogan was killed. His killer remains unknown.

According to Nelly Miles with the GBI, Dogan was found dead by police during a welfare check at his apartment on the 300 block of South Pond Road.

Witnesses told investigators that they heard a single gunshot from the apartment at some time during the early morning hours of Jan. 26, 2002.

Officials ruled Dogan’s death a homicide and believe he may have also been robbed.

The Dogan murder is one of several open homicide cases that the Toccoa Police Department currently has on the books.

In March 2011, 46-year-old Robert Lee Simmons, Jr. of Toccoa was found dead by a family member at the Glendale Apartment Complex.

Police ruled the death a homicide.

March will mark 13 years since Simmon’s death.

The other open homicide case occurred on the morning of March 18, 2014, when 28-year-old Montevious Flentall was found dead at his home on Pageland Drive in Toccoa.

March 18th will mark the 10th anniversary of Flentall’s murder.
