G-DOT Awards Five Million Dollars for New Bridge on US29

The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded a total of 10 projects in December 2023 including resurfacing, widening and reconstruction, and bridge construction.

The third largest award includes $ 16 million in funding for three bridge construction projects.

The largest of the three involves a bridge replacement over the Hudson River spanning Franklin and Madison Counties on US29/SR8.

The total cost of the project is $5.8 million.

G-DOT awarded the contract to three companies, Anatek, Inc., the Sharon Co., Inc., and Terri Harris Trucking, LLC.

No word on when construction is expected to get underway but G-DOT said work is expected to be completed by August 31, 2025.

The Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs, and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways.

The 10 December awards bring G-DOT’s total construction contracts for Fiscal Year 2024 to just over $1 billion.
