Monday Manhunt Results in Arrest of Hartwell Man

A Hartwell man is facing charges after a manhunt on Monday.

According to Hart County Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Chris Carroll it started around 10a Monday morning when deputies responded to a family violence incident in the area of Airline School and Williams Roads.

Carroll said the suspect, a male individual, had reportedly made threats to kill others and then damaged the windshield of a vehicle with a woman inside.

The suspect, later identified as 26-year-old William Lamont Scruggs of Hartwell, then left the residence on foot.

After a search of the area by Hart County Sheriff’s Deputies, Sheriff’s K9, and GSP Troopers, Scruggs was found and taken into custody.

Scruggs, 26 is charged with Terroristic Threats And Acts, Obstruction, and Criminal Damage to Property and was taken to the Hart County Jail.
