Community Listening Session Tonight to Support Substance Abuse Recovery

A special Community Listening Session is taking place at 6p in Lavonia this evening for anyone struggling with substance abuse or who knows someone who is.

Emily Ribblet is the Director of the Georgia Council for Recovery, a private, non-profit independent advocacy organization based in Atlanta dedicated to reducing the impact of substance abuse disorders in communities through education, advocacy, and training.

Ribblet, along with two other representatives, will be facilitating the meeting this evening at Lavonia First Baptist Church.

Ribblet said recovery happens in communities so tonight she said they want to hear from community members about three main areas.

The free session is open to family members, employers, healthcare providers, school personnel, community members, those already in recovery, law enforcement, faith leaders, and others who want to learn more about how to stem the tide of addiction in Franklin County.

Again, tonight’s listening session is free and open to the public and takes place tonight beginning at 6p at Lavonia First Baptist Church on Bowman St.
