Local Novelist to Read From Latest Book at Royston Library
A local author will be at the Royston Public Library on Saturday, January 27, 2024, to read from her latest novel.
Sponsored by the Royston Friends of the Library, Vallorie Neal-Wood will be reading from her latest novel, “Royston.”
“Royston” is based on a true event in the city’s history.
The book is about Detective Rusk Brooks who leaves Atlanta to take a position with the Royston Police Department, hoping to to leave behind the pain of loss and grief.
He then meets a reporter for the local paper who tells him about a twenty-year-old case involving a man shot in the head and stomach.
Newspaper accounts never reported the incident and the police department deemed it a suicide.
The reporter wants to investigate the case for a novel and ends up pushing the detective through a door he doesn’t want to open.
Wood will read excerpts from her novel beginning at 12:30p next Saturday at the Royston library.
After her reading, she will be available to answer questions and give autographs and photos until 1:45 PM.
