Georgia State Patrol Releases Final Thanksgiving Holiday Traffic Stats

Final traffic statistics are in for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend from the Georgia State Patrol.

During the 102 weekend which began at 6p Wednesday November 22 and ended at 11:59p on Sunday, November 26, Troopers investigated 12 fatal traffic crashes, and local law enforcement agencies investigated six fatal traffic crashes resulting in 23 deaths across Georgia last weekend.

In Troop B which includes Franklin, and Hart counties, GSP Post 52 reported one fatal crash on Friday, November 24 when a driver ran from a safety checkpoint and crashed into a tree.

The driver was killed instantly and not yet been positively identified.

In addition to fatal crashes, Troopers investigated over 560 traffic crashes statewide, resulting in nearly 250 injuries.

Troopers and Motor Carrier Compliance Division (MCCD) Officers made over 18,000 traffic stops, arrested more than 350 individuals for driving under the influence (DUI), issued nearly 800 seatbelt citations, issued almost 500 distracted citations, and issued more than 11,000 warnings and over 10,000 citations.
