Lavonia Ushers in Christmas Season with Winter Wonderland Tree Lighting

The City of Lavonia ushered in the Christmas season, officially, Tuesday night with their annual tree lighting and holiday event.

This year’s theme was Winter Wonderland and featured Santa and Mrs. Claus, Queen Elsa from Frozen, toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate and more.

Mayor Courtney Umbehant said he was pleased with the turn out despite the cold weather.

Main Street Director Ashley Rose Dodd said the Emmanuel University Singers were an added treat, filling the evening with the sounds of favorite Christmas carols.

And rounding out Lavonia’s holiday activities this weekend is their annual Christmas parade on Sunday beginning at 3p.
