St. Mary’s Healthcare has a new Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Eric J. Schuck, a physician executive with more than 25 years of progressive experience in healthcare leadership, has been named the new CMO.

St. Mary’s spokesman Mark Ralston tells WLHR News Dr. Schuck comes to St. Mary’s from HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital and HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital, where he served as CMO.

Prior to his service with these two hospitals, he held CMO roles at HCA Florida West Hospital and in HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Division.

He also served as the site medical director for pediatrics/emergency services at multiple facilities, including HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital, HCA Florida Capital Hospital and HCA Florida West Hospital.

Joining St. Mary’s brings him back to Georgia where he graduated with honors from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.

There he studied as an Air Force Health Professions Scholarship recipient.

He then successfully completed a residency in pediatrics at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base/Dayton Children’s Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, before serving nearly 10 years in the United States Air Force.
