If mobility is a challenge for your first-time deer hunter, you will want to take note of this unique Adaptive Hunting Opportunity by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.

A specialty hunt is scheduled for Jan. 9-10, 2024, only for mobility-challenged first-time deer hunters and is offered by the Georgia DNR’s Wildlife Resources Division.

Participants will navigate the woods and make their way to a blind using Action TrackChairs or ATC’s which is an all-terrain wheelchair that can travel over a variety of obstacles.

Chairs are made available through a partnership with All-Terrain Georgia.

The Hunt Package includes an ATC overview, a shooting range visit using an ATC, and two hunting sessions with hunting guides.

The hunt will take place on private land in Newton County.

The cost is $85 which covers the hunter and a buddy.

Meals (lunch/dinner/lunch) are also included in the price.

Lodging is not included with the hunt, but multiple options are available at local hotels in Covington, GA.

Application Deadline is Dec. 15, 2023. Participants will be selected and notified by Dec. 18.

This hunt is for an adaptive hunter and a buddy.

Both individuals must possess all required hunting licenses, including a hunting license, big game license, and harvest record, and both must complete the All-Terrain GA certification training prior to the hunt.
