27,000 More Georgians Hitting the Road This Year for the Thanksgiving Holiday

AAA projects 2 million Georgians will travel 50 miles or more during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period*.

Of that 1.5 million are expected to drive to their holiday destination.

That’s nearly 27,000 more Georgia drivers than last year.

AAA spokesman Mark Jenkins says this year’s auto travel volume has more holiday travelers than the record high set in the 2019 Thanksgiving holiday weekend and is the second highest on record behind 2005.

And for those 1.5 million Georgians hitting the road this week, gas prices should be easier on your budget.

As of Sunday Georgia drivers paid an average price of $2.85.

AAA believes gas prices should remain low through the holiday season unless oil prices suddenly spike.
