Local non-profit groups are already gearing up for a holiday season where more people will be turning to them for help.

As the cost of living continues to rise, many more families are turning to groups such as the Salvation Army for help this holiday season than ever before.

Rebecca Dixon, Toccoa Service Director for the Salvation Army said that’s why beginning next week they are asking for volunteers to become Christmas bell ringers for their Christmas Red Kettle drive so they can raise the funds needed to help more people.

The Toccoa Salvation Army serves 11 counties in Northeast Georgia and Dixon said they need about four bell ringers per site, working two-hour shifts each at several Walmart Locations and in the Toccoa and Lavonia areas.

All monies raised will go to provide help to those in need and their families this Christmas.

If you or your club, civic or church group would like to be bell ringers for the Salvation Army this year, you can go online to https://www.registertoring.com/ or you can call Dixon at 706-716-4712.
