Toccoa Man Arrested in Franklin County on Multiple Charges

A Toccoa man is facing multiple charges in Franklin County after being arrested for auto theft.

It happened Thursday according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Cpl William Jordan of Hartwell Post 52.

“On Thursday at approximately 4:36 PM, Troopers from Post 52 Hartwell were advised of a stolen vehicle that had been seen in the area of Gumlog Road in Franklin County. The vehicle was a gray Nissan Frontier and had been reported stolen out of Franklin County. TFC Pratz, TFC Welborn, and CPL Jordan went to the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle. TFC Pratz located the vehicle traveling on Gumlog Road. The vehicle was stopped, and the driver was taken into custody,” Cpl. Jordan said.

Cpl. Jordan said the driver, identified as 35-year-old Marty Trent Jones of Toccoa, was also found to have several debit cards in is possession that did not belong to him.

Jones was charged with Safety Restraint Violation, Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, and Credit Card Fraud.

Cpl. Jordan said Jones also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. He is currently being held at the Franklin County Detention Center.
