Saturday is the Deadline to Submit Blue Ribbon Entries for County Fair

Saturday is the deadline to submit your entry to the Blue Ribbon Competition for next week’s Franklin County Hometown Fair.

The Franklin County Hometown Fair takes place November 2 – 4th at the American Legion Fair Grounds in Lavonia and one of the highlights of the fair will be the judging of homemade products from county citizens.

The Blue Ribbon Competition will consist of three Categories: Culinary, Home Arts & Hobbies, and Visual Arts.

Within those categories are subcategories such as Jams & Jellies, Baked Goods (Cookies and cakes), and Canned Goods (Vegetable, Fruit, Salsas, & Pickled) in the Culinary category.

Lavonia Main Street Manager Ashley Rose Dodd tells WLHR News now is the time to enter and each person may enter ONE item per subcategory.

All entries must be submitted by Saturday, October 28th – that’s tomorrow.

Entries will be judged by Thursday afternoon, November 2nd and the decision of the judges is final.

Submissions must be dropped off at Lavonia American Legion on Wednesday, November 1st between 2:00p–5:00p.

And make sure you have labeled all your entries with your full name, address, phone & the category number on your label.

Dodd said the Blue Ribbon competitions are open to all men, women, and juniors of all ages.

However, in the Culinary category professional commercial, or industrial, bakers/chefs are not eligible to enter.

First, second, and third-place ribbons will be awarded.
