Lavonia City Council to Hold Work Session Tonight

The Lavonia City Council will hold a work session this evening at City Hall.

Among the items on the agenda, the Council is expected to vote to pass a resolution for the application of a Land and Water Conservation Grant.

Lavonia Mayor Courtney Umbehant tells WLHR News the City plans to use the grant funding to build new tennis and pickleball courts at Lavonia City Park.

He said the Council must sign the resolution by the end of May.

Tonight the Council is also expected to review the City’s parks and recreation areas.

And in other business, the Council and Mayor are expected to hear presentations from both the Lavonia Fire and Police Departments and review code enforcement progress.

In February, the Mayor announced the City has no code enforcement department but planned to work with former city manager Gary Fesperman to develop one.

Tonight’s work session begins at 6p at Lavonia City Hall and is open to the public.
