Royston Man, Hartwell Man Charged with Trafficking Meth

A two-month multi-agency investigation has led to the arrests of a Royston man and a Hartwell man on drug trafficking charges.

Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office Agent in Charge Trent Hillsman said Wednesday 57-year old Ted Steven Williams, of Royston, GA and 35-year old Joseph Obarr, of Hartwell, GA, were arrested last Wednesday, June 2 and charged with trafficking methamphetamine.

The search warrants were executed at 445 Church Street in Royston, GA, and at 439 Adams Duncan Road in Hull, GA.

At those locations Hillsman said agents confiscated approximately 1.25 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value $7,600.00.

In addition to the drug charges both men are facing, Williams is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and terroristic threats and acts.

Hillsman said the investigation was conducted by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, the Royston Police Department, the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, and the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office.

And he said the investigation is active and ongoing.
