Hart County Charter System to Hold Back to School Blast Later This Month

The Hart County Charter System is sponsoring a Back to School Blast but it’s a little different this year.

Their goal is to help collect donations of school supplies for students for the upcoming school year.

Parents and caregivers will pick up the supplies on Saturday, July 25 from 9a to 11a at Hart County High School.

However, Assistant School Superintendent David Buddenbaum says it won’t be like in years past.

“In past years everybody walks through the gym and goes past booths and picks up supplies,” he noted. “There’s about 600 kids and about 100 people there. So, this year, instead of doing it that way, we’re going to pre-make all the supply bags from all the different vendors and businesses that are contributing, and hand the bags out.”

Buddenbaum said parents will stay in their cars and go through a drive-through to pick up their students’ supplies.

“They will line up in the parking lot across from the Board of Education and they’ll drive around to the front of the Fine Arts Center and they’ll register, so we have a number, and they’ll get their bags,’  he explained.

Hart County Chamber members are collecting the supplies on behalf of the school system through July 21st.

Chamber volunteers will be handing out the bags and will be wearing face masks and gloves as they hand out the supplies.

Buddenbaum said they are expecting some 500 to 600 students to pick up school supplies on the 25th.
