Franklin County BOC to Meet Tonight for Regular Meeting

The Franklin County Board of Commission will meet this evening for its regular monthly meeting and are expected to make a number of county appointments including appointing a County Clerk.

Current County Clerk Elaine Evans tells WLHR News she received an email from County Attorney Bubba Samuels last week informing her that her presence at tonight’s meeting was not required.

Evans has been on leave since receiving the email from Samuels last week.

On January 7, the Board held a called meeting and immediately went into executive session to discuss personnel issues.

However, when they came out of executive session they made no mention of any personnel decisions made by the Board.

In November, Evans filed a complaint with the County Ethics Board against County Commission Chair Thomas Bridges and Airport Authority Treasurer Bill Flowers.

In her written complaint, Evans said the two came into her office in mid-October unannounced, demanded the airport authority’s financial records, and barred the door so she couldn’t leave.

Evans said their behavior, including Flowers calling her a liar at one point, was a pattern of intimidation by Bridges and Flowers.

At a public hearing in early December, the Franklin County Ethics Board voted not to pursue a formal investigation or hearing on the allegations by Evans stating there were not enough material facts presented to move forward.

Tonight’s meeting begins at 6p at the Franklin County Justice Center in Carnesville.
