Senator John Wilkinson hosted the first meeting of the Senate Study Committee on Reducing Georgia’s Cost of Doing Business this past week at the Georgia State Capitol.

Wilkinson said the meeting included several presentations including ones from Tiger Joyce with the American Tort Reform Association; Cary Silverman with the US Chamber of Commerce; and Jake Daly with Georgia Defense Lawyers Association just to name a few.

The Senate Study Committee on Reducing Georgia’s Cost of Doing Business has 15 members who are tasked with reviewing the current legal climate and other areas that impact the cost of doing business in Georgia.

The Committee is also tasked with studying the conditions, needs, issues, and problems various industries in Georgia face.

Wilkinson says he looks forward to researching ways to help reduce regulatory and financial burdens on our state’s businesses.

He said ensuring the state’s business-friendly climate helps encourage growth in both small businesses and large corporations and is vital to our continued economic success.

According to Wilkinson the Committee will hold three additional meetings before presenting its findings on or before December 1.
