GSP Investigates Hit and Run in Madison County

In Madison County, authorities are trying to find out the identity of the driver who struck and killed a pedestrian walking along U.S.29.

According to a report in the Athens Banner Herald, it happened early Monday morning on U.S.29 in Hull, Georgia.

The body of a man was found about 7:30a Monday morning by a passing motorist near the Clarke County line.

Madison County Coroner Julie Phillips said the victim was struck in the roadway and landed on the shoulder.

According to the Georgia State Patrol and Madison County authorities, the motorist left the scene but they believe they have a suspect.

So far, no arrests have been made and the victim’s identity is being withheld.
