Gasaway Speaks on Election Win

28th District State Representative Dan Gasaway says he appreciates the support from the community in winning a second term to the Georgia Legislature.

With no Democratic opposition on the ballot in the fall, the Republican incumbent won re-election for all intents and purposes after defeating challenger Stacy Hall in Tuesday’s primary election.

Gasaway says he was pleased to have won the vote count in each of the three counties that is represented in the 28th District.

“I really appreciate all the support I had across the district, but especially the support I had in Toccoa and Stephens County,” said Gasaway. “It is gratifying that people appreciate what you have done. I am not the showhorse in the race. I never was. It is nice that people notice quiet, hard work that I continue to deliver.”

Gasaway defeated Hall by a final vote count of 3,096 votes to Hall’s total of 2,108 votes.

In Stephens County, Gasaway received 1,359 votes, while Hall received 1,032 votes. Meanwhile in Banks County, Gasaway totaled 1,251 votes to Hall’s 601 votes and in Habersham County, Gasaway received 486 votes to Hall’s 475 votes.

With the election over, Gasaway says he is looking forward to working on a number of things in the next two years.

“There is some banking legislation that I have been working on for three years that I will continue to work on aggressively,” said Gasaway. “We have some very significant issues in the community that we have been working on aggressively and I think the election may have held up my ability to move forward on some of those. Now that the election is cleared up, I think we can move forward aggressively.”

Gasaway says he will continue to work hard to represent not just Toccoa and Stephens County, but all of the communities in the 28th State House District.

The 28th District is made up of Stephens County, Banks County, and part of Habersham County.
