Royston Councilman Keith Turman Named 3rd VP of GMA District #2

Keith TurmanRoyston Mayor Pro Tem Keith Turman was recently elected to the post of 3rd Vice President for District #2 of the Georgia Municipal Association.

The election came at GMA’s statewide convention in last month.

Turman will be on the board of District #2 which is comprised of 13 Counties; Rabun, Towns, Union, Habersham, White, Lumpkin, Stephens, Banks, Hall, Franklin, Hart, Dawson, Forsyth.

“I am honored and pleased to have been asked to serve by his fellow elected officials and is looking forward to working for the good of the entire District,” Turman said upon receiving the award.

Created in 1933, the GMA’s purpose is to anticipate and influence the forces shaping Georgia’s communities and to provide leadership, tools and services that assist local governments in becoming more innovative, effective and responsive.  It also provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and technical consulting services to its members.

As a voluntary, non-profit organization, the GMA is the only state organization that represents municipal governments in Georgia.  

Current membership currently totals 512 municipal governments, accounting for more than 99% of the state’s municipal population.
