50th Anniversary Drop-In Reception Set for Sunday for Local Veterinarian Dr. Pat Hitchcock

Dr. Hitchcock poses with a plaque presented to him by his staff on his 40th Anniversary

A reminder that the staff at Lavonia Animal Hospital is inviting the public to help Dr. Pat Hitchcock celebrate 50 years of veterinary practice in Lavonia.

This Sunday afternoon, August 11, a drop-in reception will take place at Lavonia First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall from 2p to 4p.

Dr. Hitchock first set up his practice at his location on East Main St. in 1974 and since then has served hundreds, if not thousands, of animals including dogs, cats, all kinds of different kinds of pets, livestock, and wildlife.

Over the years, Dr. Hitchcock has not only helped animals but has also helped launch the medical and veterinary careers of many local students who worked at his practice.

One of those is Dr. Jason Macomson who recently published a book entitled Red Barn Tales, based on his experiences as a student and now veterinarian working with Dr. Pat.

There will be light refreshments at Sunday’s reception and if you have photos of you and/or your pets that he has treated over the years to share, you are asked to bring them so they can be posted on a large board for him to remember everyone.

There will also be a framed photo mat for everyone to sign.

And to celebrate Dr. Pat’s anniversary all year round, you can also stop by Lavonia Animal Hospital anytime and purchase a 50th-anniversary t-shirt.

If you have questions, you can contact Kim at Lavonia Animal Hospital at 706-356-8116.

Again the 50th anniversary drop-in reception for Dr. Pat Hitchcock takes place Sunday, August 11 from 2p to 4p at Lavonia First United Methodist Church.
