4-5″ of Rain Fell Tuesday in Franklin, Hart Counties Says National Wx Service

Tuesday’s storm has moved out of our area but left in its wake flooded roads and rivers.

According to National Weather Service meteorologist Jake Wembley parts of Franklin County saw up to 5 inches of rain yesterday.

Additionally, major rivers such as the Broad River hit a flood stage of 15 ft by Tuesday afternoon affecting areas of Madison Elbert, and Oglethorpe counties.

In Franklin County, the Middle Fork of the Broad River also crested along Highway 59 but did not reach the highway. However, it did flood adjoining pastures.

In Hart County numerous roads flooded or were impassable in spots according to the Hart County EMA.

Hart EMC reported 97 outages Tuesday morning in Elbert and Madison counties but those were repaired by late morning.
