Woman Hit by Vehicle While Delivering Packages in Lavonia

A delivery driver is being treated for injuries she received Tuesday after being struck by a vehicle.

According to Sgt. Ray Dean with the Georgia State Patrol Post 52 Hartwell, it happened about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at a residence on Brookwood Drive.

“The preliminary crash investigation revealed a gray 2017 Honda Civic was backing up westbound, and a blue 2017 Nissan Rogue was parked, facing west, in the private drive,” Dean said. “While the driver of the Rogue was attempting to unload a United States Postal Service package to deliver to the address, the driver of the Civic improperly backed up, pinning the driver of the Rogue between the two vehicles.”

Dean said the delivery driver of the Rogue was subsequently transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (Gainesville Campus) with non-life-threatening injuries.

He said the crash investigation is currently ongoing.
