Truck Fire Ties Up Traffic on I-85 Monday

A truck fire Monday morning on I-85 southbound tied up traffic in both directions for a time.

It happened about 8:30a Monday near Exit 164 on I-85 southbound.

According to authorities, the cab of an 18-wheeler hauling cars caught fire and within minutes was fully involved in flames.

The fire also spread to the trailer and several of the cars on the trailer also caught fire.

The Interstate was shut down in both directions for a time while firefighters from Carnesville and Red Hill Volunteer fire departments worked to put out the blaze and clear the wreckage.

By late morning Monday, all lanes were back open on the Interstate.

No word on what caused the fire nor the condition of the driver.
