Suspect Arrested in Monday Night Murder and Stabbing in Hart County

A murder suspect in Hart County is in custody after an all night search Monday night.

According to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland the suspect, identified as Larrendrick Rashad Tabor is facing multiple charges including felony murder and aggravated assault in the shooting of a man and the shooting and stabbing of a woman.

Cleveland said it happened Monday evening between 8p and 8:30p on Friendship Road.

“We do know that from eye witnesses Mr. Tabor came in and shot Mr. Alexander multiple times, killing him. Then shot Mr. Alexander’s sister and stabbed her inflicting some really serious injuries and then fled out the back door,” he said.

Cleveland said deputies, along with assistance from the GBI, helicopters from the Georgia State Patrol, and K-9 units from Alto, conducted an all night search in a 2.5 mile radius of where the shooting took place and South Hart Elementary School.

Authorities were able to track him to the South Hart Elementary School area, but then lost his trail in the woods.

School authorities opted to close South Hart Elementary for the day out of concerns for the safety of the children.

Then, about 7a this morning, the unexpected happened when Tabor was spotted walking along the roadside.

“Everybody was praying for a peaceful end because this young man was extremely angry when he committed this crime, but early this morning we spotted him onthe road. One of the deputies and myself confronted him. He gave up. He did still have the gun and knife on him. He did require medical treatment. By his own admission he cut himself while committing the knife attack,” Cleveland said.

Earlier it was reported that Monday’s night’s shooting is related to the murder last week of a Royston man in Anderson.

Cleveland would not confirm that, but said they are all part of a group of people believed to be involved in gang activity.

“There have been several names of persons of interest brought up and Mr. Tabor’s name was in that group. We do know from doing the interviews that there was gang membership among all the people concerned,” the Sheriff said.

Tabor has been on the run since December when he allegedly attacked someone in Hartwell with a machete, according to Cleveland.

Hartwell Police had outstanding warrants on him for aggravated assault.

Tabor is now also charged with felony murder, murder with malice, home invasion, and aggravated assault.

He’s being held without bond in the Hart County Detention Center.

The Sheriff said the investigation is ongoing, and we will bring you more information as it is released.
