Superior Court Bond Hearing for Hart BOC Member RC Oglesby to be Announced

Commissioner RC Oglesby arrested last Thursday under the RICO Act

UPDATE: According to Hart County Clerk of Court Frankie Gray, a date for a bond hearing for Hart County Commissioner R.C. Oglesby, his son Steven Oglesby and four others has not yet been set.

As of Tuesday, Gray he has not yet heard when those hearings will take place.

Last week, Hart County Magistrate Judge Thomas Jordan referred six defendents’ bond hearings to Superior Court because of the federal RICO charges they all face.

All six remain in jail.

Gray said the bond hearings will be heard by a Senior Superior Court Judge.

That, he speculates, is because the budgets for the Northern Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judges are funded in part by Hart County.

Therefore, those judges have recused themselves from these cases.

Meantime, more arrests were made last week in connection with the investigation into alleged racketeering in Hart County.

Last week, investigators with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, and Hart County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a total of nine suspects for their part in a scheme to illegally use EBT cards.

In addition to the arrests of Hart County Commissioner R.C. Oglesby, his son Steven Oglesby, Amy Oglesby, Yolanda Monique Oglesby, Dasia Oglesby, authorities arrested Nelson Blackwell, Thomas Strange, Debra Craig, and Tyqushia Fre’sha Oglesby.

Blackwell and Strange are both charged with racketeering.

Craig is charged with possession of meth related objects and Tyquisia Oglesby is charged with a misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement office.

R.C. Oglesby, is facing two counts of racketeering under the RICO Act and 10 counts of shoplifting that allegedly occurred in Hartwell.
• Steven Oglesby, 41, faces three counts of racketeering.

• Amy Oglesby, 38, Stephen Oglesby’s wife, who owns Ludi’s Soul Food, is charged with 10 counts of racketeering.

• Dasia Oglesby, Monique Oglesby, 28, and Nelson Blackwell are all charged with one count of racketeering.

• Tyquisia Oglesby is charged with a misdemeanor obstruction of a law enforcement office and received a $1,500 bond in Magistrate Court on Friday.

Craig and Strange did not appear in Magistrate Court on Friday.
