Stephens County Registrar Eureka Gober has resigned.  Friday, January 15, was Gober’s last day with Stephens County’s Registrar’s Office.

She said her decision to resign was due to health reasons.

Gober was the first black woman to be Registrar in Stephens County.

Before leaving, Gober recommended Deputy Registrar April Roberts to fill her seat in the role of Stephens County’s Registrar.

Gober started working as the Deputy Registrar under then Registrar Bill Cochran in 2016.

Stephens County Commissioners will meet in a called session and are expected to appoint Roberts as the Interim County Registrar.
