South Carolina Couple Facing Multiple Charges After High-Speed Chase Tuesday

A South Carolina couple is behind bars in Banks County after being arrested in Lavonia Tuesday night.

According to Sgt. Fleming with the Georgia State Patrol Hartwell Post, they were contacted Tuesday night by the Banks County Sheriff’s office to help catch a suspected shoplifter who was headed up I-85 North in a black Lexus.

According to the Banks County Sheriff, the couple was wanted for shoplifting in the Commerce Walmart and at other stores in Jackson County.

Sgt Fleming said a Banks County deputy spotted the Lexus on the Interstate headed north at mile-marker 153.

Banks County requested the assistance of the State patrol.

Trooper Welborn intercepted the pursuit of the vehicle at mile marker 168 on 85.

The driver continued to flee and exited the Interstate at Exit 173 and made a left onto Highway 17.

Sgt Fleming said at that time, trooper Welborn performed a PIT maneuver and stopped the vehicle.

Arrested without incident was Kendaysha Fuller of Chesney, SC and Dykem Laney of Spartanburg, SC.

The GSP has charged the couple with felony fleeing and other traffic charges in Franklin County.

Both are charged with felony shoplifting and fleeing in Banks County.

Sgt Fleming said the Lexus was full of stolen items including clothes and groceries.

He said most of the stolen items have been recovered.

As of Wednesday Fuller and Laney were being held in the Banks County Detention Center.
